In the process of achieving that accreditation, Dr. Doan completed courses that combine the artistry and science of dentistry, and successfully performed a rigorous examination process that confirms his advanced skills.

About Dr. Doan
Dr. Doan earned his DMD from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he graduated in the top five of his class. Upon graduation, he was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon (the National Dental Honor Society).
He is an accredited member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) and a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the California Dental Association (CDA), the Southwest Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS) Education, and Spear Study Club. He has also completed postgraduate programs by Spear, Dawson, and received TMJ training from Dr. Mark Piper.
Dr. Doan has been voted as one of San Diego’s top doctors by peers every year since the beginning of the acknowledgement.
Born and raised in Los Angeles County, California, Dr. Doan enjoys the sunny weather of San Diego and its coastal pleasures. An avid surfer, photographer, and gardener, Dr. Doan also enjoys a good book and time with his wife, their three sons and daughter-in-law, and the many friends they have throughout the city.
Dr. Doan’s Treatment Philosophy
I became a dentist because I was very interested in the biological sciences and I liked the idea of working with my hands.
I enjoy the satisfaction of crafting beautiful and functional restorations. Not only do I enjoy helping patients look better, but also helping them feel and function better. This motivates me to come to work every day. I also enjoy the process of perfecting my skills and continually learning new things. The AACD accreditation process was instrumental in helping me develop my skill set.
I am very interested in the connection between aesthetics and function. I enjoy designing cases to achieve beautiful aesthetics that is functionally balanced and comfortable.
I am very excited about digital smile design. I have been doing it for several years now and it has revolutionized the way I design, perform and deliver my cases. It allows for much more interaction with my patients in the design process.
